summer learning journey: day 1 task 2

Hi, bloggers so today I had to do a summer learning journey task and it was a task 2 from explorer. so the task was to write about our cultural background and where does your family come from? Do they come from Europe like Abel Tasman, Polynesia like Kupe, or somewhere else?. Hope you enjoy reading about my background and my culture. 




                                       MY CULTURE BACKGROUND 

I am full Tongan. I come from a Polynesian background so life in the islands is not very easy. My mum and dad moved from Tonga to Newzealand separate so my mum moved here in 2000 and my dad moved here in 1978 so that they could have a better life for them and for their kids. I never experienced the struggles in the islands like those kids did. 

  

Summer learning journey: day 1 task

Hi, bloggers so today I will be doing week 1 task day 1. So week 1 activity was to make a list of ten food items that you could take with you. Please think carefully about what you will take as you won’t have access to a refrigerator or freezer while at sea. Please explain why you would select each item. Hope you guys enjoy reading my list of food and the reason why I am bringing it. 

I would bring some chips because at night I could look up at the sky and watch the stars and eat the chips.

I would bring a lot of vegetables so that I could make sandwiches.

I would bring some chicken and ham for the sandwiches.

I would bring some fruits because so that I would eat it and so that could get hydrated. 

I would bring ice blocks because when it is summer it will be hot and an ice block will cool me down.

I would bring bread to go with my sandwich and it is important for people's energy and blood

I would bring some candy in case my blood sugar might get low.

I would bring brownies because I could eat it for dessert every night and hear the waves flowing. 

I would bring a hot meal cause I don't want to eat cold food every day.

I would bring some water to hydrate me and I need to drink enough to maintain the body's fluid balance.

Market Day 2!!!!

Wednesday 25th September 2019
Walt: Write a recount

On Wednesday the 25th of September 2019 there was a market day at Wesley primary school at the hall and all of the students at Wesley primary school came. My group members are Te airi, Aaliyah, Florence, Eli, Isabel and Sofaia (CEO).

First, Miss Bound took Pila and Noah and Alex to the hall to set up for market day and then Miss Bound asked Pila to get my group so that we could set up our stalls so we grabbed all of our things that we needed and we ran to the hall. when we got to the hall we put the slime in color rows and put some on the other side. Then we put the money box in the middle of the table. and after we set up our stalls we went to Noah and Pila to exchange our money to Wesley token money.

Next, my group went to the hall to get everything ready so that people could buy our slime. when we got their classes were coming and little kids came and brought slime and Te Airi's family came 3 slimes for their little son and they gave up $6.00. After that, I asked Te airi if I could go around to see what I would want to buy and she said "yeah but could you hurry cause I want to go get me somethings to" and then I went to Sophie's and brought 2 lolly jars.

Then, Mrs Martin told everyone to sit down so that she could say some words to use and to also do the raffle draw. Mrs Martin asked Miss Bound if she could pick 2 winners out of the box and Miss Bound did and she picked Rita (Princeton mom) and Minerva's mum. at the end of the raffle draw, john's group had some drinks leftover and some were already sold out.

Finally in conclusion, at the end I had to count the money and I kind of lost count and I gave the bag to Miss Bound and I achieve my goal because my goal was to sell all of the slime and to make a profit and we did. I would change nothing in my group. and also my group made $116 on the market day. I had a lot of fun at the market day.

Walt: write A recount

I wonder if my group is going to make any money at market day? My product is slime and they each cost $2.00 per container or a cup. My group members are Te airi, Isabel, Eli, Florence, and Sofaia(CEO). 

First, we needed to sort out what things we were going to buy. and then we had to each go and buy some slime and me and Florence each spent $6.50.

Next, we had to make some slime and we had to use glue, shaving foam, borax and food coloring and then we had to mix so that it is not sticky. 

Then, I and Teairra had to go around the classrooms and we went to Rm3 first and when we walked in there we were telling them about our slime and we got them to vote and then 17 voted for me and 4 voted for Te airi.

inconclusion, I think we will sell 70 slime. I think we will make $100 because kids might buy heaps of slime. my goal is to sell all of our slime and to make more profit. I think that little kids will buy our product. I cannot wait for market day.

SWIMMING

Hi, bloggers so today we went to the swimming pools at new windsor. So today we learned how to swim with our boards in our front side and then we had to turn to our backside and then after that we were doing some floats on our front side for 5 seconds and we also did the same on our backside. Then at the end we had a race to see who was the fastest. And also I was on lane 3 and we will be doing it for 2 weeks I think. Hope you guys enjoyed reading what I have been doing at swimming.

Reading and Understanding Advertising

Living the dream

Hi, bloggers so today I will be showing you guys my favorite work I have done for the past week. so I wrote about Maria née tuta'ia because she is an inspiration and she always persists when she plays netball and when she shoots. Motat

Hi, bloggers so today I will be telling you guys what we done at Motat.

First, we had to sit in our groups that our teachers put us in. I was in group 2 in Rick's group (Noah dad). then we had to walk to the bus in our classroom line and then we had to sit with 3 people in a seat. Then we drove to Motat and we got out of the bus and we had to find our adult and our group. 

Next, we had to line up and wait next to the gate because there was another school there. After the other school got spoken to by Katherine. Next Katherine brought us into a small little red room next to the telephone place and the fire station. Then Katherine was speaking to us about Motat and where the toilets were and the safety rules and one of the rules were to walk and not run. and we had a little of our morning tea. 

After I and my group went to explore Motat. We went to the park and had a little bit of a play and a relaxing time to yourself. Then Rick (Noah dad) said to us "if we wanted to go to the pump house" then we said "yes" and we all went to the pump house and it was really fun because there were lots of cars and it told us a lot of thing about what cars had done and what it was really like.

Afterwards, Then we had a scavenger hunt. First, we went to the fire station to look for handles bars and we had to find one or two telephones. Then we went to the old village and we went into the houses and we had to find items and two of the items we had to find was a doll and eggs. After we found the items we went to explore the old prison and we look in the prison and we saw a creepy scary looking dude and we looked at the big and small handcuffs and old keys. Then we went to the trampoline to play a little game with these two beautiful ladies. The game we were playing was jumping on the alien.

Finally, we went to the educator room. Then we went back tot he little red room to eat lunch and after we eat lunch we had a little play around before we had to catch the tram ride. After we were exploring the last room we went through a shop and we hoped in the tram and we went on a little ride. After we hopped on the tram we were riding then we stopped because the other team had problems. Then we went to the other side of Motat. Then we got back to the other Motat. Then we had gone to the game room for a little play around but then we wanted to go to the trampoline but it was too full so Me,Richard,Isabel,Pila and Rick went to a relaxing room and we were playing tag then I was running and I fell down and I was laughing and then Rick told us that we had to go know.

I felt really happy/sad because i have already been their and i was happy because it was so fun and their was a game room. I was as happy as a monkey climbing trees and eating banana.

DLO - Cogs

Hi bloggers so today I was learning about cogs and I learnt that cogs are on bikes and on engines and also on cars and other cars as well and sorry i could not do the GIF because i do not know how to do it. And if you don' t know what a GLO is it means Digital learning object. hope you guys learn what an GLO and a cog.

Tug of war

Hi bloggers so today I will be telling you about what we did on Thursday of June 2019.  So on Thursday we were playing tug of war because we were learning about forces and also we were learning about accelerate. So hope you enjoy my writing about tug of war.

Yesterday, we did a tug of war because we were learning about forces.

Do you think there are more friction in socks,shoes or barefoot?
socks are slippery because it has less friction. you needed grips on your hands because if the rope was slippery you will get a cut from the rope. barefoot has more grip and friction because your feet is not slippery only your socks. Shoes has more grip and friction because socks don't have grips on them.


Next you had to push and pull the rope to make your team win. Two opposite forces pulling the rope from each side. The end with the most pull forces and weight made the other end drag.

Afterwards Miss Bound picked a girl and a boy to verse and when one side has more force it was accelerate. when the other team were pulling the rope went forward.

Finally In the end Miss Bound told all the girls to stand on one of the and told all of the boys to go to the other side and we all were pushing and pulling and the boys won but they all fell down and when they all fell down semis was laying on the ground and it was so funny. It was challenging because some of us were sliding and when we were pulling the rope our hand will start to hurt and have blisters.

Toolkits

Hi, bloggers so today me and other people from my school went to the toolkit at hay park primary school to present and to learn things. so my first session was at the staffroom and it was gamification and we were just playing some games and just answering some questions and my second session was in room 8 and it was kahoot so we had to search up kahoot and we did a quiz about toolkit and it was kinda challenging because some of the questions was kinda hard because I did not know the answer to it but it was so fun and my last session was in room 8 again and it was google drawing art so we had to open up a google drawing in our drive and we had to pick a cartoon image and we had to make it look realistic and it was so fun because I did this last year and it was amazing to do it again. it was so fun at toolkit because we were playing soccer and it was so fun and we get to learn something new and it was also fun because I made a lot of new friends. I hope you enjoy reading what I did at toolkit.

Hi bloggers so today we were learning what is different and what is same about a unicycle and a bicycle. If you don' t know about unicycle is I will tell you about it. So a unicycle has one wheel and and has a rim. and I hope you enjoy what is different about a bicycle and a unicycle and what is the same. Famous netball player

Hi bloggers so today I will be telling you a little about myself so first I will be telling you what I want to be when I grow up and I will not be telling you my age. so hope you enjoy what my future would be like. hope you enjoy it.

when I grow up I want to be a famous netball player. I want to play for Tonga and I want to be Gk (goal keeper) and GS (goal shooter).
the reason I want to be a netball because when my mum grew up her and her sisters played for Tonga and she was GS and her other sister was GK  and her other sisters were different ones. and I also want to be GS because I am sometimes good at shooting and I want to be GK because I am very good at defending and always good at blocking the shooter probably because I am tall.



 and I also want to be a teacher because I love playing with kids.

Hi bloggers so today we were learning percentage and it was so fun because we did this last year and it is still fun to learn. it was a little bit hard because at first I did not get it but then Gamadoo and John helped me and it was also challenging because we had to add it all together and make it into an percentage. Why should you be reading this book?
i think you should read this book because it tells you all about captain James cook how he came to new Zealand and tells you where was new Zealand first sight? and it tells you what are soundings are and it tells you how to make it or just tells you what you need. did you know that James cook first visit to New Zealand where he charted the coastline. and it also tells you some of James cooks abilities and his skills. and it also examines the math in the book.

Hi bloggers so today i will be telling you a book called Sailing The Pacific By Maria Samuel. So today i will be telling you a summary about this book. Before i tell you about the summary i will be asking some questions.

now I will be telling you the summary what I learned in the book.
I learned back in the day that when they sailed they used the clouds,birds,stars and sea movement.
